And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good? | And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the Lord’s commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good? |
Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive. | Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent. |

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” | But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.” |
For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.” | For, “The one who desires life, to love and see good days, Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit. He must turn away from evil and do good; He must seek peace and pursue it.” |
Remove falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches— Feed me with the food allotted to me. | Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion. |
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. | With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and every request for all the saints. |
The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. | The Lord will fight for you, while you keep silent. |
Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment. | Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment. |
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. | Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. For six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male slave or your female slave, or your cattle, or your resident who stays with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; for that reason the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. |
Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord; Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me. | You, Lord, will not withhold Your compassion from me; Your mercy and Your truth will continually watch over me. |
In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise. | When there are many words, wrongdoing is unavoidable, But one who restrains his lips is wise. |
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. | If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit as well. |
Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. | Keep the Sabbath day to treat it as holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. For six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; you shall not do any work that day, you or your son or your daughter, or your male slave or your female slave, or your ox, your donkey, or any of your cattle, or your resident who stays with you, so that your male slave and your female slave may rest as well as you. |
Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. | Keep watching and praying, so that you do not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. |
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. | In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, Lord, have me dwell in safety. |
Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer. | Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer. |
Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, And put away evil from your flesh, For childhood and youth are vanity. | So remove sorrow from your heart and keep pain away from your body, because childhood and the prime of life are fleeting. |
But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. | But if the wicked person turns from all his sins which he has committed and keeps all My statutes and practices justice and righteousness, he shall certainly live; he shall not die. |
Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. | So then, let’s not sleep as others do, but let’s be alert and sober. |
And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” | Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. |
It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel. | Avoiding strife is an honor for a person, But any fool will quarrel. |
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” | Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever abandon you,” |
But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. | As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to keep many people alive. |
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. | As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. |
Direct my steps by Your word, And let no iniquity have dominion over me. | Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any wrongdoing have power over me. |
