Rescue me, O Lord, from liars and from all deceitful people. | Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. |
But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. | By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. |
|
The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me. | The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. |
When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. | When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. |
But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me. | But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me. |
I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. | Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me. |
Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come. | Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. |
But when you had eaten and were satisfied, you became proud and forgot me. | But when they had grazed, they became full, they were filled, and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me. |
But Jesus told them, “I will be with you only a little longer. Then I will return to the one who sent me.” | Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.” |
I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? | In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? |
You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. | As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. |
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” | Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” |
So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” | So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” |
If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! | If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him. |
Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. | Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. |
But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! | If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. |
Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.” | And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” |
Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. | I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. |
As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. | But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. |
But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! | Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. |
Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ | Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ |
The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. | God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places. |
Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous. | Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy! In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness! |
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. | But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. |
Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” | And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” |
