Wash yourselves and become clean; remove your evil deeds far from my sight. Cease to do evil. | Wash yourselves. Make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil. |
I will instruct you and guide you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and keep my eyes upon you. | I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. |
My life is in your hands; deliver me from the power of my enemies, from the clutches of those who pursue me. | My times are in your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me. |
Even should my heart and my flesh fail, God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever. | My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. |
The Lord God is my strength; he makes my feet as swift as those of a deer and enables me to tread on the heights. | Yahweh, the Lord, is my strength. He makes my feet like deer’s feet, and enables me to go in high places. |
I lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where will I receive help? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. | I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth. |
O Lord, you have examined me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I stand; you perceive my thoughts from a distance. | Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. |
Abba, Father, for you all things are possible. Take this cup from me. Yet not my will but yours be done. | Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire. |
Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and I made no attempt to conceal my guilt. I said, “I will confess my offenses to the Lord,” and you removed the guilt of my sin. Selah | I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn’t hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah. |
Return, rebel Israel, says the Lord. I will not look upon you in anger. For I am merciful, says the Lord; my wrath will not continue forever. | ‘Return, you backsliding Israel,’ says Yahweh; ‘I will not look in anger on you, for I am merciful,’ says Yahweh. ‘I will not keep anger forever.’ |
Anyone who is victorious will be dressed like these in white robes, and I shall not blot his name from the book of life. Rather, I shall acknowledge it in the presence of my Father and his angels. | He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments, and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. |
I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower. He removes every branch that does not bear fruit, and every branch that does he prunes to make it bear even more. | I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer. Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. |
