In my anguish I cried out to the Lord and called to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. | In my distress I called on Yahweh, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry before him came into his ears. |
If you would seriously consider my reproof, I would pour out my thoughts to you and make my precepts known to you. | Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you. |
In God alone is my soul at rest; it is from him that my salvation comes. | My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him. |

Observe my Sabbaths and stand in awe before my sanctuary. I am the Lord. | You shall keep my Sabbaths, and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am Yahweh. |
O Lord, all my longing is known to you, and my sighs are not hidden from you. | Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you. |
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. | If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. |
I lifted up my voice in prayer to him; his praise was on my tongue. | I cried to him with my mouth. He was extolled with my tongue. |
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom should I be afraid? | Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? |
Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and I made no attempt to conceal my guilt. I said, “I will confess my offenses to the Lord,” and you removed the guilt of my sin. Selah | I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn’t hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah. |
As long as I remained silent, my body wasted away as the result of my groaning throughout the day. | When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. |
But as for me, I will look to the Lord. I place my hope in God my savior; my God will hear me. | But as for me, I will look to Yahweh. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me. |
By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. | In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples. |
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. | “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says Yahweh. |
You are truly my rock and my fortress; for the sake of your name, lead and guide me. | For you are my rock and my fortress, therefore for your name’s sake lead me and guide me. |
The Lord is my portion, I say to myself; therefore, I will place my hope in him. | “Yahweh is my portion,” says my soul. “Therefore I will hope in him.” |
Why are you so disheartened, O my soul? Why do you sigh within me? Place your hope in God; for I will once again praise him, my Savior and my God. | Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God. |
When my anxious thoughts multiplied, your comfort filled my soul with joy. | In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul. |
But you, O Lord, are a shield to protect me; you are my glory and the one who raises my head high. | But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. |
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. | If you love me, keep my commandments. |
Your statutes are my everlasting heritage; they are the very joy of my heart. | I have taken your testimonies as a heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart. |
I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah | I spread out my hands to you. My soul thirsts for you, like a parched land. Selah. |
Listen, my son, and take my words to heart, and the years of your life will be multiplied. | Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many. |
