Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God! But the leader in charge of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath day. “There are six days of the week for working,” he said to the crowd. “Come on those days to be healed, not on the Sabbath.” But the Lord replied, “You hypocrites! Each of you works on the Sabbath day! Don’t you untie your ox or your donkey from its stall on the Sabbath and lead it out for water? This dear woman, a daughter of Abraham, has been held in bondage by Satan for eighteen years. Isn’t it right that she be released, even on the Sabbath?” This shamed his enemies, but all the people rejoiced at the wonderful things he did. Luke 13:10-17	Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him. miracles healing sabbath

Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all. 1 Corinthians 15:34	Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. righteousness sin conversion
For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! Ephesians 5:8	For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. light children life
So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall. Hebrews 4:11	Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. sabbath obedience rest
So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” Hebrews 13:6	So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” trust fear protection
People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray. Proverbs 10:17	He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, But he who refuses correction goes astray. obedience life listening
See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. 1 Thessalonians 5:15	See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. blameless righteousness evil
O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. Proverbs 28:13	He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. sin confession mercy
