Proverbs 31:25–26 (6/6)

Do not forsake your friend or a friend of your family, and do not go to your relative’s house when disaster strikes you— better a neighbor nearby than a relative far away.Do not abandon your friend or your father’s friend, And do not go to your brother’s house on the day of your disaster; Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away.
The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.A prudent person sees evil and hides himself; But the naive proceed, and pay the penalty.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.As iron sharpens iron, So one person sharpens another.
As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.As in water a face reflects the face, So the heart of a person reflects the person.
If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.One who turns his ear away from listening to the Law, Even his prayer is an abomination.
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.One who conceals his wrongdoings will not prosper, But one who confesses and abandons them will find compassion.
Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.A fool always loses his temper, But a wise person holds it back.
Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor.A person’s pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.
Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.The fear of man brings a snare, But one who trusts in the Lord will be protected.
Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.
Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion.
