| And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. | Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. |

| When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. | Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. |
| I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. | If I say, “My foot slips,” Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up. |
| As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” | For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. |
| And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. | And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. |
| Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.” | Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” |

| You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. | You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! |
| For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’” | For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.” |
| I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. | Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. |
| But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” | But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” |
| I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ | And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ |
| Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. | But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. |
