| These are the words of the Lord of hosts: Stand at the crossroads and look around; ask for the ancient paths. When you are shown where the good way lies, walk along it and your souls will find rest. However, they said, “We will not take it.” | Thus says the Lord: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” |

| Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and utter all kinds of calumnies against you for my sake. | Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. |
| I did not hesitate to tell you what was for your benefit as I proclaimed the word to you and taught you publicly as well as from house to house. | How I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house. |

| But even so the Lord is waiting to be gracious to you, and he will rise up to grant you his compassion. | Whatever moves and has life will be used for your food. I give you all these things, just as I have already given you every green plant. | Blessed are you when people hate you and ostracize you, when they insult you and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. | Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! |
| What god can compare with you, the God who takes away guilt and forgives the transgressions of the remnant of your people? You will not allow your anger to fester forever, for your delight is in bestowing mercy. | Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. |
| Therefore, accept one another for the glory of God, just as Christ has accepted you. | Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. |
| Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge. | Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. |
