| All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). | Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. |
| So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. | If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. |
| So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall. | Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. |

| So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. | You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? | So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. | Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry. |
| You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. | Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. |

| So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. | You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate. | Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. |

| So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. | Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. |
| So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. | Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. |
