| That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant. | And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. |
| I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear? | I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass? |
| I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth. | I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. |
| Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. | A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. | The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. | The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. |
| Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people. | Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people. |
| And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. | So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” | For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” |

| Haughtiness goes before destruction; humility precedes honor. | Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before honor is humility. |
| You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail. | There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand. |
