Let everyone submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which derives from God, and whatever authorities exist have been instituted by God. | Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. As long as the goodwill is present, the gift will be acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have. | For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have. |
What then should we say? That the Law is sinful? Absolutely not! Yet if it had not been for the Law, I would not have known what sin was. I would not have known what covet is if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.” | What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. | You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. |
Now who is going to harm you if you are eager to do what is right? | And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? |
Whatever moves and has life will be used for your food. I give you all these things, just as I have already given you every green plant. Only do not eat flesh along with its life, that is, with its blood. | Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. |
For God will repay everyone in accordance with what his deeds deserve. | Who “will render to each one according to his deeds” |

With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me? | The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? |
Let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, then you will remain in the Son and in the Father. | Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze on what lies before you. | Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. |
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his very life? | For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? |
What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? | What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? |
