Why do bad things happen (2/4)

And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.
Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one.Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. So they do it to obtain a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
The one who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

The end of all things is near; therefore be serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers.The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.

Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible.”Looking at them, Jesus said, “With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”
O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you, I will praise your name; for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; For You have worked wonders, Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
You may say to yourself, “How can we recognize a word that the Lord has not spoken?” If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord but the thing does not take place or prove true, it is a word that the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; do not be frightened by it.And if you say in your heart, ‘How will we recognize the word which the Lord has not spoken?’ When the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, and the thing does not happen or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you are not to be afraid of him.
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do this.Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will do it.
Jesus answered them, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done.”And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.”
Abba, Father, for you all things are possible; remove this cup from me; yet, not what I want, but what you want.Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will.
Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. I am warning you, as I warned you before: those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior, idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
