| But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. | But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given to You. |
| Those who are wise understand these things; those who are discerning know them. | If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. | And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. |
| Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world. It is by your holding fast to the word of life. | Do all things without complaining or arguments; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding firmly the word of life. |
| If any of you sin without knowing it, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, you have incurred guilt, and are subject to punishment. | Now if a person sins and does any of the things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, he is still guilty and shall bear his punishment. |

| Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse. | For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse. |
| You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish. | Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. |
| For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, busy with this very thing. | For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. |

| Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret over those who prosper in their way, over those who carry out evil devices. | Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes. |
| But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. | But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you. |
| But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine. | But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. |
| He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? | He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? |
| But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness. | But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. |
| So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! | Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. |
