Bible Verses about Listening

  • You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.
  • But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”
  • Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
  • But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.
  • And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
  • Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you.
  • I love the Lord, because he has heard
    my voice and my supplications.
    Because he inclined his ear to me,
    therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
  • Those who are attentive to a matter will prosper,
    and happy are those who trust in the Lord.
  • Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
  • Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
  • And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of him.
  • Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me.
  • So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
  • In my distress I called upon the Lord;
    to my God I cried for help.
    From his temple he heard my voice,
    and my cry to him reached his ears.
  • Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life,
    but one who rejects a rebuke goes astray.
  • My child, be attentive to my words;
    incline your ear to my sayings.
    Do not let them escape from your sight;
    keep them within your heart.
  • O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
    in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch.
  • If you will not listen, if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse on you and I will curse your blessings; indeed I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.
  • The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
    and his ears are open to their cry.
  • The Lord your God you shall follow, him alone you shall fear, his commandments you shall keep, his voice you shall obey, him you shall serve, and to him you shall hold fast.
  • About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
  • Well then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
  • But he answered, “It is written,
    ‘One does not live by bread alone,
    but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
  • Therefore whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed from the housetops.
  • I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
    and delivered me from all my fears.

If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one.

Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from one person's envy of another. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.
