Bible Verses about Understanding

  • Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
  • Just as you do not know how the breath comes to the bones in the mother's womb, so you do not know the work of God, who makes everything.
  • Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding,
    but one who has a hasty temper exalts folly.
  • The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom,
    and whatever else you get, get insight.
  • I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
  • All deeds are right in the sight of the doer,
    but the Lord weighs the heart.
  • Because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.
  • I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him.
  • The human mind may devise many plans,
    but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established.
  • But test everything; hold fast to what is good; abstain from every form of evil.
  • The unfolding of your words gives light;
    it imparts understanding to the simple.
  • But Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”
  • For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
    so are my ways higher than your ways
    and my thoughts than your thoughts.
  • Have you not known? Have you not heard?
    The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
    He does not faint or grow weary;
    his understanding is unsearchable.
  • Indeed, we live as human beings, but we do not wage war according to human standards.
  • But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
  • O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
  • Woe to you who strive with your Maker,
    earthen vessels with the potter!
    Does the clay say to the one who fashions it, “What are you making”?
    or “Your work has no handles”?
  • Happy are those who find wisdom,
    and those who get understanding.
  • Get wisdom; get insight: do not forget, nor turn away
    from the words of my mouth.
  • No one, when tempted, should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one.
  • There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.
  • Jesus answered him, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.”
  • For a thousand years in your sight
    are like yesterday when it is past,
    or like a watch in the night.
  • He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.”

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
his greatness is unsearchable.
