Bible Verses about Understanding

  • Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
  • As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
    the Maker of all things.
  • Whoever is patient has great understanding,
but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
  • The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
  • I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
  • A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart.
  • So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
  • I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
  • Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
  • But test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.

so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
  • Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
  • For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
  • But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
  • Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker,
those who are nothing but potsherds
among the potsherds on the ground.
Does the clay say to the potter,
    ‘What are you making?’
    Does your work say,
    ‘The potter has no hands’?
  • Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
    How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
  • Blessed are those who find wisdom,
    those who gain understanding.
  • Get wisdom, get understanding;
do not forget my words or turn away from them.
  • When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.
  • A thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by,
or like a watch in the night.
  • Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
  • My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ.

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
