- Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not make room for the devil.
- Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful.
- You shall not hate in your heart anyone of your kin; you shall reprove your neighbor, or you will incur guilt yourself. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
- Hatred stirs up strife,
but love covers all offenses. - A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger. - You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.
- Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding,
but one who has a hasty temper exalts folly. - A fool gives full vent to anger,
but the wise quietly holds it back. - And he said, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
- Fools show their anger at once,
but the prudent ignore an insult. - It is honorable to refrain from strife,
but every fool is quick to quarrel. - By insolence the heedless make strife,
but wisdom is with those who take advice. - Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
- Return, faithless Israel,
says the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful,
says the Lord;
I will not be angry forever. - Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. I am warning you, as I warned you before: those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
- Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
You show me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy;
in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
