Bible Verses about Giving

  • Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
  • But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.
  • A gift opens doors;
it gives access to the great.
  • A generous person will be enriched,
and one who gives water will get water.
  • For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have.
  • Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.
  • Honor the Lord with your substance
and with the first fruits of all your produce.
  • He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
  • You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us.
  • And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.
  • Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to do it.
  • Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.
  • So whenever you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be praised by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.
  • Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again.
  • Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
  • All day long the wicked covet,
but the righteous give and do not hold back.
  • Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”
  • If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
  • The wicked borrow, and do not pay back,
but the righteous are generous and keep giving.
  • Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment.
  • But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
  • Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions of them to those for whom nothing is prepared, for this day is holy to our Lord; and do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
  • Speak out, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
  • The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
  • In reply he said to them, “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise.”
