Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.Why are you in despair, my soul? And why are you restless within me? Wait for God, for I will again praise Him For the help of His presence, my God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth.
Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions.Do not say, “Why is it that the former days were better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask about this.
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive. All things are permitted, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted, but not all things build people up.
Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted to him.
God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.And the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no human may boast before God.
These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. It does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen.
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name. Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins by calling on His name.
They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them, and they said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. All things are permitted for me, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.Yet for us there is only one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
