Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.
Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
