You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. Romans 3:20	Because by the works of the Law none of mankind will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes knowledge of sin. sin law righteousness
He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
