As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? Romans 6:3	Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Jesus baptism
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received! Matthew 10:8	Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and cast out demons. Freely you received, so freely give. healing giving receiving
But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9	For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. grace faith salvation
Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Hebrews 10:36	For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise. patience obedience receiving
But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. Romans 6:22	But now, being made free from sin and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification and the result of eternal life. freedom redeemer sin
Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Matthew 3:8	Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance! conversion repentance life
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15	For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” fear Spirit children
But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 1 Timothy 6:9	But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. money greed materialism
You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9	Whom, not having known, you love. In him, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. faith joy salvation
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. John 16:33	I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world. encouragement peace overcoming
But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16	But just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior, because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” holiness life calling
But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me. Psalm 13:5-6	But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to Yahweh, because he has been good to me. trust worship heart
After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. 1 Timothy 6:7-8	For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that. food materialism contentment
Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. 2 Corinthians 8:12	For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you don’t have. encouragement giving generosity
