| You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. | You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. |
| And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? | Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? |
| And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. | And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! |

When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. |
| You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess. | Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy. |
| But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. | But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. |
| You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. | For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. |
| And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. | You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it. |
| Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken. | Do what is good and run from evil so that you may live! Then the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies will be your helper, just as you have claimed. |
| And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. | And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. |
| If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him. | If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! |
| But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. | But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit. |
| You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. | Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you. |
| These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. | I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! |
| Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. | But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. |
| Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. | In those days when you pray, I will listen. |
| Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. | I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. |
| Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. | You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. |
| For the Lord your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you. | The Lord your God will bless you as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations but will never need to borrow. You will rule many nations, but they will not rule over you. |
| This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. | This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. |
| I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. | And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. |
| O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.” | I said to the Lord, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” |
