| To those who by patiently doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. | He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. |

| Therefore prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed. | So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. |
| Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that I need. | First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. |
| For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. | Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. |

When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. |
