Forgiveness (2/2)

Repent, therefore, and be converted so that your sins may be wiped away. Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.
Is anyone among you sick? He should send for the presbyters of the Church so that they may pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.
God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, but now he commands people everywhere to repent.God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.
Return, rebel Israel, says the Lord. I will not look upon you in anger. For I am merciful, says the Lord; my wrath will not continue forever.O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever.
But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Yet even so, because of your great compassion, you did not completely destroy them, nor did you forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!
I shall forgive them for their wicked deeds, and I shall remember their sins no more. And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.
Blessed is the one whose offense is forgiven, whose sin is erased.Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!
When Jesus heard this, he said, “It is not the healthy who need a physician, but rather those who are sick.”When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.”
Come now and let us discuss this, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be like snow. Though they are as red as crimson, they shall become as white as wool.“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”
Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come.
Therefore, I tell you that every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven.
However, the gift is not like the transgression. For if the transgression of one man led to the death of the many, how much greater was the overflowing effect of the grace of God and the gift of the one man Jesus Christ that has abounded for the many. But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.
You will again show us compassion and wash away our guilt; you will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
Prepare in advance what you want to say, and return to the Lord. Say to him, “Take away all guilt and give us what is good, so that we may present as offerings the bullocks from our stalls.”Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord. Say to him, “Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us, so that we may offer you our praises.”

Bible verse of the day

Why are you so disheartened, O my soul?
Why do you sigh within me?
Place your hope in God;
for I will once again praise him,
my Savior and my God.
