| Guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. | For he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. |

| If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. | For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. |

| As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. | As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. |
| For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? | What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? |
| You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you. | Be sure to keep the commands of the Lord your God and the stipulations and decrees he has given you. |

| He will render to each one according to his works. | God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” |
