What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. | When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. |
Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. | Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops. |
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. | If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. |
In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. | In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? |
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. | Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers. |
I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. | I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. |
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. | So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. |
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. | In you, O Lord, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me! |
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. | And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ |
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. | A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. |
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. | Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. |
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. | For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. |
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. | Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ. |
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? | Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? |
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. | No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. |
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. | Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” |
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. | Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. |
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. | For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. |
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. | Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. |
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. | I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. |
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. | For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. |
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. | If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. |
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. | Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory. |
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. | O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. |
