37 Bible Verses about Dependence - KJV & ESV

For I the Lord thy God
will hold thy right hand,
saying unto thee, Fear not;
I will help thee.
For I, the Lord your God,
hold your right hand;
it is I who say to you, “Fear not,
I am the one who helps you.”
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
A man's heart deviseth his way:
but the Lord directeth his steps.
The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps.
My flesh and my heart faileth:
but God is the strength of my heart,
and my portion for ever.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord,
which made heaven and earth.
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.
There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:
he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
He giveth power to the faint;
and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
I have set the Lord always before me:
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
I have set the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich,
and he addeth no sorrow with it.
The blessing of the Lord makes rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it.
When I said, My foot slippeth;
thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.
When I thought, “My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
Except the Lord build the house,
they labour in vain that build it:
except the Lord keep the city,
the watchman waketh but in vain.
Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
ESV | God
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.
The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
I called upon the Lord in distress:
the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.
Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me free.
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
For they got not the land in possession by their own sword,
neither did their own arm save them:
but thy right hand, and thine arm,
and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
For not by their own sword did they win the land,
nor did their own arm save them,
but your right hand and your arm,
and the light of your face,
for you delighted in them.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
ESV | sin
Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts,
cause thy face to shine;
and we shall be saved.
Restore us, O Lord God of hosts!
Let your face shine,
that we may be saved!
