God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. | All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. |
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. | Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. |
Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? | And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. |
All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being. | God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. |
For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. | This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. |
Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” | Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” |
By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. | And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. |
I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. |
And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment. | And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. |
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. | And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. |
The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. | And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. |
I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. | I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! |
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. | And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. |
Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.” | But Jesus told them, “I will be with you only a little longer. Then I will return to the one who sent me.” |
If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him. | If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! |
And the world and its desire are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever. | And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. |
No one who denies the Son has the Father; everyone who confesses the Son has the Father also. | Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. |
I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. | Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. |
