| And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. | And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. |
| And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. | But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. |

| So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment. | The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. |
| How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver! | How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! |
| Get wisdom; develop good judgment. Don’t forget my words or turn away from them. | Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. |
| So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. | Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. |
| Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death. | Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. |
| You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. | Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. |
| Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment. | Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. |
| Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. | The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. |
| But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. | So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. | Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. |

I will spare them as a father spares an obedient child.” | And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. |
| Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval. | Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. |
| Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living. | But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. |

| The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices. | To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. |
