| For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. | For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. |

| For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. | For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. |
| You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. | You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. |

| And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. | For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Only don’t use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. |

But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. | Now the birth of Jesus Christ was like this: After his mother, Mary, was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found pregnant by the Holy Spirit. |
| I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. | I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. |
| But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. | Yahweh will command his loving kindness in the daytime. In the night his song shall be with me: a prayer to the God of my life. |

| When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. | When you vow a vow to God, don’t defer to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay that which you vow. |
