The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless.

For as yet they didn’t know the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed— for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead.
If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.
My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
“No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me,” says Yahweh.But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!

The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’
For, “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it.”For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.”
He who walks blamelessly and does what is right, and speaks truth in his heart; he who doesn’t slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor casts slurs against his fellow man.Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends.
The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but a fool is swallowed by his own lips.Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words.
The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: they go down into a person’s innermost parts.Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart.
The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats.The rich can pay a ransom for their lives, but the poor won’t even get threatened.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts.People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart.
If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. One who brings gossip betrays a confidence, but one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret.A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence.
But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you! He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt.

Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
