| For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage battle according to the flesh. | We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. |
| The statement is trustworthy: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him. | This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with him, we will also live with him. |
| What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? Far from it! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? | Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? |

And everyone who has this hope set on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. | Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. |

| This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. | And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. |
