Bible Verses about Debt

The wicked borrows and does not pay back, But the righteous is gracious and gives. The wicked borrow and never repay, but the godly are generous givers.
Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law.Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.
Pay to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor.Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.
The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender’s slave.Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.
Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back.
For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?
For the Lord your God will have blessed you just as He has promised you, and you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow; and you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.The Lord your God will bless you as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations but will never need to borrow. You will rule many nations, but they will not rule over you.
Wealth obtained from nothing dwindles, But one who gathers by labor increases it.Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it.Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.
Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever abandon you,”Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.
