Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets.
Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.Let my teaching fall on you like rain; let my speech settle like dew. Let my words fall like rain on tender grass, like gentle showers on young plants.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
