1 Timothy

  • But as for you, man of God, you must shun all this. Rather, pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, fortitude, and gentleness.
  • For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out. If we have food and clothing, let us be content with these.
  • However, those who want riches fall into temptations and are trapped into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.
  • And whoever does not provide for relatives, especially for those who are living with him, has disowned the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
  • Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your noble confession of faith in the presence of many witnesses.
  • Let no one regard you with contempt because of your youth, but serve as an example to the believers in your speech and conduct, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
  • The love of money is the root of all evils, and in their desire for it some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many serious wounds.
  • While physical training has some value, the benefits of godliness are unlimited, since it holds out promise not only for this life but also for the life to come.
  • For there is one God,
    and there is one mediator between God and man,
    Christ Jesus, himself a man.
  • Godliness produces great gain, but only to those who are content.
