Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. | No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. |
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. | For this reason you must be ready as well; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. |
|
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. | Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to reward each one as his work deserves. |
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. | For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. |
How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. | That they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. |
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. | This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. |
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. | The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. |
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. | He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. |
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. | Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. |
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. | Many will be purged, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand. |
And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. | “And they will be Mine,” says the Lord of armies, “on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will have compassion for them just as a man has compassion for his own son who serves him.” |
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. | The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. |
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. | But the one who endures to the end is the one who will be saved. |
And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. | Now, little children, remain in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not draw back from Him in shame at His coming. |
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. | And let’s consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds, not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. |
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. | So then, let’s not sleep as others do, but let’s be alert and sober. |
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. | Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. |
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. | But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. |
Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. | So if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them. For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. |
