Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. | I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer. | Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. | You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. |

| Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. | Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. |
| Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. | You didn’t choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you. |
| If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. | If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. |
| But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me. | When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me. |
