Law (3/5)

You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.We, being Jews by nature and not Gentile sinners, yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.
Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands.Praise Yah! Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh, who delights greatly in his commandments.
The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction.
Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.Know therefore that Yahweh your God himself is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments.
You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord. Therefore you shall keep my commandments, and do them. I am Yahweh.
Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God. Yahweh is one. You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.
‘I am the Lord your God,’ I told them. ‘Follow my decrees, pay attention to my regulations, and keep my Sabbath days holy, for they are a sign to remind you that I am the Lord your God.’I am Yahweh your God. Walk in my statutes, keep my ordinances, and do them. Make my Sabbaths holy. They shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am Yahweh your God.
A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ. He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you.You shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of Yahweh your God which I command you.
When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God—all the laws and decrees he has given you.You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.
For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace.
Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.If anyone sins, doing any of the things which Yahweh has commanded not to be done, though he didn’t know it, he is still guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.
So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.Yes, in the way of your judgments, Yahweh, we have waited for you. Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul.
The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever. All of your words are truth. Every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever.
Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight.I have taken your testimonies as a heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.
But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. We have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from your precepts and from your ordinances.
God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?
The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked. The way of Yahweh is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches.
And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.
Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.

I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.I will never forget your precepts, for with them, you have revived me.

Bible verse of the day

God places the lonely in families;
he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
