Proverbs 13 - NRSV & NKJV

Those who guard their mouths preserve their lives; those who open wide their lips come to ruin.He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
Wealth is a ransom for a person's life, but the poor get no threats.The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, But the poor does not hear rebuke.
By insolence the heedless make strife, but wisdom is with those who take advice.By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom.
Wealth hastily gotten will dwindle, but those who gather little by little will increase it.Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm.He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
