| This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. | For from the beginning you have heard the message that we should love one another. |

| Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. | He will never be swayed; the righteous man will be remembered forever. |
| If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. | And if one should fall, his companion will help him up. How pathetic is the man who is alone and falls and has no one to assist him to his feet. |
| For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. | For everyone born of God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith. |
| You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. | You believe that there is one God. You do well to assert that. But even the demons believe and tremble. |

| So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. | Therefore, encourage one another and strengthen one another, as indeed you are doing. |
