- Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
- A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion. - He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver;
Nor he who loves abundance, with increase.
This also is vanity. - Surely he will never be shaken;
The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. - A faithful witness does not lie,
But a false witness will utter lies. - Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. - Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Execute true justice,
Show mercy and compassion
Everyone to his brother.
Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless,
The alien or the poor.
Let none of you plan evil in his heart
Against his brother.’ - Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
- Remove falsehood and lies far from me;
Give me neither poverty nor riches—
Feed me with the food allotted to me. - Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.
- For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
- God sets the solitary in families;
He brings out those who are bound into prosperity;
But the rebellious dwell in a dry land. - One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.
- The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
- Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
- Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
- A talebearer reveals secrets,
But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter. - Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
- But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
- Now John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.
- A fool’s lips enter into contention,
And his mouth calls for blows. - But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
- But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
- For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
- Surely the Lord God does nothing,
Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.
