Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. | Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. |
The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and he exalts. | The Lord makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up. |
For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? | For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? |
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. | Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. |
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. | Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. |
