Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. | Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. |
The statement is trustworthy: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him. | This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with him, we will also live with him. |

But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. | As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching. |
Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment. | So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment. |
Rescue my soul, Lord, from lying lips, From a deceitful tongue. | Rescue me, O Lord, from liars and from all deceitful people. |
Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. | Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. |
In the same way, faith also, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. | So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. |
The Lord makes poor and rich; He humbles, He also exalts. | The Lord makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up. |
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus. | You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. |
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. | Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. |
For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? | For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? |
Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. | Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. |
When pride comes, then comes dishonor; But with the humble there is wisdom. | Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. |
Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving. | Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. |
I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have nothing good besides You.” | I said to the Lord, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” |
Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. | We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. |
