Bible Verses about Punishment

My son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord Or loathe His rebuke, For whom the Lord loves He disciplines, Just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights. My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.
Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.
A prudent person sees evil and hides himself; But the naive proceed, and pay the penalty.A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.
For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law.When the Gentiles sin, they will be destroyed, even though they never had God’s written law. And the Jews, who do have God’s law, will be judged by that law when they fail to obey it.
For the moment, all discipline seems not to be pleasant, but painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
Now if a person sins and does any of the things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, he is still guilty and shall bear his punishment.Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.
But the one who did not know it, and committed acts deserving of a beating, will receive only a few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more. But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
Repent and turn away from all your offenses, so that wrongdoing does not become a stumbling block to you.Repent, and turn from your sins. Don’t let them destroy you!
There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
Behold, happy is the person whom God disciplines, So do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave unpunished the one who takes His name in vain. You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name.
So you are to know in your heart that the Lord your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.
One who walks with wise people will be wise, But a companion of fools will suffer harm.Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.
No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God.
The one who has believed and has been baptized will be saved; but the one who has not believed will be condemned.Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.
Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment. So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.
Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
But above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you do not fall under judgment. But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned.
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction.Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious live in parched lands.God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
The Lord watches over strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked. The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven.
But the gracious gift is not like the offense. For if by the offense of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many. But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.
Riches do not benefit on the day of wrath, But righteousness rescues from death.Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death.
Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of mankind among them are fully given to do evil. When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong.

The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In the gale and the storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet. The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet.
