| So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. | For our eyes are fixed not on what is seen but rather on that which cannot be seen. What is visible is transitory; what is invisible is eternal. |
| And do everything with love. | Everything that you do should be done in love. |
| So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. | And as we gaze upon the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, all of us are being transformed into that same image from glory to glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. |
| Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. | But he answered me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” Hence, I will boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell within me. |
| Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. | For the love of Christ urges us forward, once we conclude that one has died for all, and therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves, but for him who for their sakes died and was raised to life. |
| All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. | Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercy and the God of all consolation. He consoles us in all our afflictions and thereby enables us to console others in their tribulations, offering them the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God. |
| Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. | Keep alert; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. |
| Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others. | No one should seek his own advantage in preference to that of his neighbor. |
| Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” | Do not let anyone lead you astray. “Bad company corrupts good morals.” |
| For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. | The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law. |
| For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. | For I resolved that, while I was with you, I would know nothing except Jesus Christ—and him crucified. |
| For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building. | For we are God’s coworkers; you are God’s field, God’s building. |
| Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. | Just as in Adam all die, so all will be brought to life in Christ. |

| God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. | If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person. For the temple of God is holy, and you are that temple. |
| Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all. | Come to your senses and sin no more. For some of you have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. |
