But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil. | But examine everything; hold firmly to that which is good, abstain from every form of evil. |
For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” | For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” |
But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin. | Behold, happy is the person whom God disciplines, So do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. |
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. | Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time. |
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. | Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. | This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. |
Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. | Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day. |
In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. | And having been perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey Him. |
Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. | In the morning, Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will present my prayer to You and be on the watch. |
We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him. | And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him. |
For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. | For whoever has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. |
May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ. | May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the perseverance of Christ. |
For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. | For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. |
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. | Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good. | So you are to know in your heart that the Lord your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son. |
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. | And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. |
And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: “Jesus is the Messiah.” | And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not stop teaching and preaching the good news of Jesus as the Christ. |
Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.” | Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” |
In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle. | When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens. |
Do what is good and run from evil so that you may live! Then the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies will be your helper, just as you have claimed. | Seek good and not evil, so that you may live; And so may the Lord God of armies be with you, Just as you have said! |
So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. | Nevertheless, as for you individually, each husband is to love his own wife the same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband. |
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. | But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. |
Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. | But sexual immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among saints. |
But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. | We have sinned, we have done wrong, and acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances. |
See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. | See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek what is good for one another and for all people. |
