But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil. | Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. |
For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” | For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” |

But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin. | Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. |
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. | Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. |
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. | Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. | Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. |
Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. | Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. |
In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. | And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. |
Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. | My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up. |
We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him. | And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him. |
For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. | For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. |
May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ. | Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. |
For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. | For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. |
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. | Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good. | You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you. |
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. | And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. |
And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: “Jesus is the Messiah.” | And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ. |
Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.” | Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” |
In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle. | Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven. |
Do what is good and run from evil so that you may live! Then the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies will be your helper, just as you have claimed. | Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken. |
So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. | Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. |
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. | If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. |
Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. | But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints. |
But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. | We have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. |
See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. | See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. |
