Bible Verses about the Holy Spirit

  • For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
  • I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
  • And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
  • But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
  • Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?
  • Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
  • And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
  • And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

  • But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.
  • We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.

Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
