Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions.Don’t say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not ask wisely about this.
What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
